On June 22, 2018, at the age of 88, Doris R. Kauihou joined her beloved husband Alfred for all eternity. Doris and Alfred were married for 65 years before Alfred's passing in 2015. She is survived by her five children: Lyle (Leilyn), Jan Russell, Gregg (Carol), Gayle and Ross; sister Miriam Cooney (Thomas); and sisters in law Jane Tango and Candace Tango. Doris was a proud graduate of Hilo High School, and a Nissei of parents who were sugar cane plantation workers. Being the third of nine children, Doris' life was one of hard work and sacrifice for her family. Raising five children was a challenge, but she and Alfred worked hard to give all of them the best opportunities to succeed in life. Doris had a kind spirit, one that if you were to sit next to her for the first time, you would leave with a smile. She was a great wife, a wonderful mother to her children, and a good friend to all who knew her. She will be dearly missed, but she is finally reunited with the love of her life, and can now rest.
