74 of Kaneohe, a retired educator of the Hawaii State Department of Education, passed away in Kaneohe on October 22, 2018. She is survived by husband, Julian R. Yates, III; daughters, Jana (Nate) Nelson and Jaelene Yates (Derek Takai); five grand- children; and siblings, Bernice (Dennis) Chong, Howard (Marge) Yuen, Sylvia Yuen (Harold Masumoto), and Carol (Paul) Souza.
