Our mom passed away on March 12, 2019 at the age of 84. She was born in Hilo, Hawaii, where, as the youngest child, and only girl, she was spoiled by her mother and doted on by her 4 brothers. A proud '52 alum of Hilo High, she decided to attend Wesleyan University in Ohio, then later elected to return home to complete her teaching degree at UH Manoa. It was at UH that she met Haruo Shigezawa, her husband of 60 years. Our mother was a world traveler who visited all 7 continents. She was also passionate about working out at her gym where she enjoyed many close friendships. Their support helped her immensely during her last years. Mom was a loving wife, mother, and grand- mother who raised 4 children and 5 grandchildren. She missed Haruo who passed 2 years earlier. She is survived by her children: Glenn (Eri Sugino), Jodie, Nadine (Jim Tollefson), and Dawn. Grand- children: Bradley, Spencer, Hunter, Riley, and Connor. Please join us for a service in her memory on Thursday, April 25, 2019, 10:00 am at Christ United Methodist Church, 1639 Keeaumoku Street. Visitation at 9:00 am.
