ELEANOR Y.M. HO
Eleanor Y.M. Ho passed away peacefully at home on March 21, 2019 at age 102. She was born in China on July 5, 1916 to Tong Hung and Wong Cook Auyong. She left China and arrived in Honolulu with her parents when she was 4 years old. She was the eldest of 6 children. The family settled in Waipahu. She attended elementary and intermediate schools in Waipahu. During the last ten years of her life, she was provided exceptional care by eldest daughter Vivian (fondly known as "Kanoi", which was a neighbor's interpretation of her Chinese middle name Quon Oi). All of us who know Kanoi, know that mother Eleanor thrived and continued to enjoy life to the fullest with the care provided. Eleanor was a seamstress at Lauhala Sportswear for over 20 years. She was totally devoted to her family. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, gardening, sewing, crafting, and fellowshipping with family and friends. She is especially remembered for her bright smile and kind words. She and Den Kui were happily married for 49 years. They traveled extensively to China, Japan, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti, Philippines, Europe, Continental USA, and the neighbor islands before he passed in 1988. She is survived by sons Eugene and Stephen (Audrey); daughters Vivian and Joyce Wing (Ersic); seven grandchildren Lynnelle Wing Williams (Derek), Derek (Reza), Jereld Wing (Carol), Gerard Wing, Kimberly Tyau (Brian), Sean Ho and Craig Ho; four great-grand- children Madeline Tyau, Kiralei Tyau, Joie Tyau, and Ethan Ho; brother Victor Auyong; sister-in-law JoAnn Auyong; and nephews and nieces. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by brothers Richard, Lester and Joseph; sister Dorothy Auyong; and daughter- in-law Lorraine Ho. A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday May 4, 2019 at Borthwick Mortuary, Mauka Chapel. Visitation will begin at 9 AM. Services will begin at 10 AM. Burial will be at 1 PM at Manoa Chinese Cemetery. Casual attire. No flowers.
