FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

MARY E.P. “POLLY” GOURLEY
MARY E.P. "Polly" Mary Eunice (Parrott) Gourley was born in LaCrosse, Virginia on August 2, 1932, and passed away in her home in Kailua, Hawaii on April 7, 2019. She graduated from Johnston-Willis Hospital School of Nursing in 1952, and was a practicing Registered Nurse for more than 40 years. She was happily married to "Dick" Richard Murray Gourley, of Peabody, Massachusetts, from June 6, 1959 until his passing in August of 1993. She is survived by her four children (and their spouses): Debra Kay Thomas (North Bend, Oregon); "Rip" Richard Murray Gourley, II and his wife Val (Kailua, Hawaii); Sara Gourley Previte and her husband Bill (Poway, California); and Susan Jill Ray (Kailua, Hawaii). She had 9 grandchildren, Kore Bormann; Kyle Thomas; Micah Gourley; Mason Gourley; Marshall Gourley; Tyler Gourley; Alexandra Previte; Franchesca Previte; and Brian Previte. She also had three great-grandchildren: Drew Bormann; Jimmy Bormann; and Clay Gourley. Polly was the first in her family to attend college, and worked diligently to ensure that her four children had that opportunity as well. As an Army officer's wife, she traveled across much of Europe and lived in Germany, Virginia, New York, Kansas, and Pennsylvania. She and her husband fell in love with Hawaii when Dick was stationed there in the 1970s, and chose to make it their home upon his retirement in 1979. Over the course of her life, Polly volunteered her time to charitable causes such as the American Heart Association, and Army Officers' Wives' Clubs, while continuing her career as a nurse. Polly will be interred beside her beloved husband at the Veteran's Cemetery, before which there will be an open service for friends and family at 10:00am on Friday, May 10, 2019 at the Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel in Kaneohe, Hawaii.

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
