Douglas W. Miller
Douglas W. Miller of Kailua, Hawaii, passed away on March 5, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. Doug was born in Encino, California on June 16, 1957, and soon moved with his family to Aikahi, his childhood stomping grounds. He graduated from Kailua High in 1975, then attended UH Manoa where he earned a BA in Math with Honors. Doug began his career with the Honolulu Police Department in 1979. He served with distinction for 25 years in a wide variety of positions and responsibilities, retiring in 2005 as a Major. Doug loved sports, especially playing on the Hawaii softball team, the Family Stones. He was also a dedicated tennis player and ping pong champion. His family and friends will never forget his kindness, compassion, sharp wit, resourcefulness, and his dedication to making the most of each moment. His eternal love and spirit are carried on by his loving wife, Bird, his devoted daughters, Kara and Chelsea, along with many others who loved and knew him well.
