It is with deep sadness that the family of Herbert Keaonui "Nui" Kauhane, 51, of Honolulu, Hawaii, announces his passing on the 4th of April 2020. He is survived by his wife Monica (Simao) and children, Ka'ea (son) and Kalakona (daughter), parents Herbert James Kauhane and Sharonlee Momilani (Claonan) Kauhane, and three sisters, Lynn Kaliko Kauhane, Ka'ipo (Kauhane) Kahapea, and Ka'ala (Kauhane) Uratani. Nui was born in Kailua, Hawaii on October 30, 1968. He graduated from Damien Memorial in 1986. Nui worked many years with his father as an iron worker with Thee Iron Shoppe of Hawaii. His passion for motorcycles grew and Nui later opened a shop of his own, Grumpys Customs, for customized motorcycles in Kailua. Nui shaped Hawaii's motorcycle scene with his version of the Hawaiian Local Boy Motorcycle and began his legacy in Hawaii's custom bike building industry. During this time Nui wrote articles for local magazines, made friends everywhere and traveled the world meeting like-minded, talented brothers. In the latest chapter of his life, Nui left his mark on Waikiki's Hospitality Industry as a well-respected Maintenance Engineer/Chief Engineer/Director of Engineering at several Outrigger/OHANA Hotels, Hilton Grand Islander Waikiki, and Hilton Garden Inn Waikiki, with his last employment at Embassy Suites Kapolei as a Director of Engineering. Nui was also a beloved member of the worldwide brotherhood of the Hells Angels MC. He was loved by all who knew him and he will be deeply missed. #AFFANui
