FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

John C. “Skip” Hance
John C. "Skip" Hance A man of great will, determination and humor, our Father, John C. "Skip" Hance formed a plan 25 years ago with himself and several of his 18 grand- children, to leave this world in the year 2020, at the age of 90. He made that goal peacefully, March 25th, 2020, in his home surrounded by loved ones.

A loving family man, he was a Widower, who celebrated 66 years of Marriage with Dottie-Ann Hance of Poipu. They raised 6 children, had 18 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren with one on the way.

Skip was born November 2, 1929. He studied Agriculture at the University of Hawaii, Manoa, and joined the trainee program with the sugar industry. Hired by Amfac Inc., Skip was sent back and forth between the outer island plantations and the Bishop Street Corporate Office in Downtown Honolulu, where he made his way to the level of Plantation Manager. First at Puna Sugar in Keaau, then at Lihue Plantation on Kauai and then retiring in 1990 from Pioneer Mill Sugar Company in Lahaina, Maui. Many joyous gatherings will be lovingly remembered at the home of Skip and Dottie-Ann Hance, as they entertained family, friends and community with food and song. His Celebration of Life will follow in the months ahead, when family and friends can gather in his honor.

He is survived by: Linda (Peter) Baldwin of Poipu; Chris Hughes of Chicago; Katherin Nalani Hance of Ahualoa; Julie Hance of Keaau; John "Tom" (Sara) Hance of California; Tricia (Tony) Cruz of Keaau.

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
