DR. GEORGE HIRONORI YAMA
Dr. George Hironori Yama passed away on April 13, 2020 in Clemmons, North Carolina following complications from renal cancer. Born (1937) in Honolulu, George attended Roosevelt High, and University of Hawaii. He earned his medical degree in 3 years from Tulane University (1962), and served as a captain in the US Air Force (1963-1966) before completing his residency in radiology from Baylor College of Medicine (1969). He was a physician in private practice in Pulaski, Virginia for over 20 years, and did locum radiology in various hospitals in the South before retiring to the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. George loved gardening, fishing, photography, history, and was an avid reader and investor. He was predeceased by parents Manabu and Kazue Yama; sister Evelyn Kimura, and brother Ronald T. Yama. Dr. Yama is survived by his wife Clarissa, brother Roy (Sally) Yama, children (with first wife Joanne Lewis Bell) Denise, Leah (Donley), David (Henni), and 6 grandchildren. Dad you are missed and loved by us all.
