James G.Y. Ho
James G.Y. "Slinky" Ho, 94, of Nuuanu, Hawaii, and Skagit County, Washington State, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2020. He was born on March 20, 1926 in Wailua, Hawaii. James and his family lived in Wailua and later moved to Liliha, where he eventually graduated from Farrington High School in 1944. Upon graduation, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and was deployed to the South Pacific during World War 2. He was later transferred to the U.S. Navy and stationed at Pearl Harbor. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he traveled the Mainland and eventually attended Bradley University where he received his B.S. in Economics. He later returned to Hawaii and attended the University of Hawaii where he received his Master's Degree. He worked for the DOE as a high school teacher at Hilo High School and coached the track and field team. After moving to Honolulu, he continued teaching and coaching at Farrington High School. He later left the DOE, and became a general contractor and eventually moved to Washington State where he retired and became writer and lecturer and author on Hawaii history.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Florence Judith Ho, and children, Jan Ehara (Scott), Kimo (Linda), Bradley (Pat), Brayton (Shanna), and eight grandchildren. Private services to be held.
