Anna Penoff “Cathy” George
Anna Penoff Cathy George died peacefully in her sleep at home on September 4th. She was born Anna Katherine Penoff, eldest child of Thomas and Maria Penoff, on December 14th 1933 in Richmond, Kentucky. After a family move to Ohio in the late 1940s, she graduated from Ohio State University with a Dental Hygiene certificate and a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She and her then husband, orthodontist and Olympic gold medalist Dr. Peter T. George, moved to Hawaii in 1956 where she began work as a dental hygienist. After the birth of her children, she obtained a Master's degree in Public Health at the University of Hawaii and then began a new career as a realtor in Honolulu in 1978.

In 1988 she founded her own company, Cathy George & Associates, specializing in high-end residential sales and rental management. For the next 27 years she lead the successful company as principal broker until being acquired by List Sotherby's International in 2015 where she served as senior vice president until 2017.

She was a member of many community groups in Honolulu including Honolulu Boys and Girls Club (serving on their board) and Honolulu Junior League where she served a term as president in 1972-1973. She was also active in American Association of University Women, and the Children's Hospital Auxiliary.

She is survived by her brothers, Dr. James Penoff of Honolulu; George Penoff of Westerville, Ohio; her sons Tryan George of Los Angeles, Barton George of Austin, Texas and three grandchildren; Nicole, Dane and Logan.

Services will be delayed until a future time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
