Mae Michiyo Hirai, 91, of Hilo, Hawaii passed peacefully at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home on September 18, 2020. An early childhood education teacher with the State of Hawaii, she taught at a number of schools and eventually retired from Keaukaha Elementary School. She was a graduate of Hilo High School and Iowa State University in horticulture where she met Wally (predeceased), her beloved husband of 69 years. She is survived by sons, Allen (Monica) and Michael (Deborah); sister, Doreen Okuda; brothers, Richard (Reiko) Iga, Ronald Iga, Harrison (Rose) Iga, Nelson Iga; and three grandchildren, Bryant, Andrew and Christen. She will be interred with her late husband, Wally, at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. No flowers or gifts please. Arrangements Provided By:
