A residence of the Aiea and Salt Lake areas, Florence died of cancer October 1st, 2020, at St. Francis Hospice. Born in 1930 in Honolulu, Florence attended Roosevelt High School and the University of Hawaii. Preceded in death by her husband, Donald I. Doi and son, Duane M. Doi, she is survived by her daughter, Donnette (Howard) Kido; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grand- children; 2 step-great-grandchildren; siblings, Marion M. Maetani, Jane S. Moriwaki, Ellen E. Takayama, and Calvin T. Onogi.Florence worked as the Office Manager for Doi Trucking until her retirement. She loved socializing, karaoke and dancing. Her keen wit combined with a warm personality always lit up any conversation. She loved plants and gardening and frequently had the healthiest plants and fruits. In her later years she also enjoyed crafting the cutest holiday ornaments, and crocheted leis and colorful pom poms for luggage. She donated many of these to hospitals, churches, friends and family.
At Florence's request and the family's recognition of the need to socially distance during these trying times there will be no funeral or memorial service.
