Nancy K. Gushiken
Nancy Kikue Gushiken, 90, died peacefully on Tuesday, the sixth of October. She was born in Kualapuu, Molokai, on September 17, 1930, the sixth of seven children to Kosuke and Kame Nakasato. She was preceded in death by brothers Isamu, Shigeru, Hiroshi and Kiyoshi; and sister Emiko (Emily) Oshiro. The family moved to Honolulu where Nancy graduated from Farrington High School. She went on to do general accounting work for Baker & Baker, Iolani Sportswear, Nali'i Fashions, Andrade Resort Wear and retired as a cashier from Finance Factors. She was a member of the Makiki Christian Church for over 65 years and together with her sister, Juliet, was a devoted choir member singing praises to God for more than 40 of those years.
Nancy was devoted to her husband of 67 years, Kenneth Tsuneto Gushiken, who preceded her in death; she is survived by her sister - Juliet Mitsuko Nakasato; sisters-in-law Mrs. Marion Nakasato and Mrs. Hatsue Gushiken; daughter - Colleen (Ronald) Nakamura and son - Carlton (Elsie Keiko) Gushiken; grandchildren: Mari (Grant) Masuoka, Andrew Gushiken (Kathleen Long), Kacie (Sean) Uwaine and great-grandson Kameron Uwaine. While we will miss her dearly, we are thankful that she lived a life full of gratitude and devotion to God for His many blessings.
Private memorial services held. Inurnment to follow at Punchbowl Cemetery.
