FUSAKO EILEEN CHINEN
Fusako Eileen Chinen was born on March 18, 1929 in Lahaina, Maui. She was lovingly cared for by family through her illness, until she passed peacefully in her long-time home at the age of 91. Gracious and hospitable, she served God by ministering to family, friends, acquaintances, and strangers alike. Every customer who entered her restaurant, the New Kukui Café was treated as family. While known for her awesome "sweet and sour spareribs", her legacy will be her Christian faith, which gave her the passion for utilizing all her gifts. She is survived by her son, Gerald Chinen, grandson, Benjamin Chinen of Walnut Creek, CA, her sisters: Mitzi Yoshimoto and Nancy (Robert) Okuda both of Honolulu, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grand- nephews. Donations may be given in her name to the Kuakini Medical Center and the Wellspring Covenant Church. A Service of Remembrance will be held on October 31, 10:00 via zoom.
