FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

SUSUMU NAKAGAWA
SUSUMU NAKAGAWASusumu (Sus) Nakagawa, 98, peacefully passed away on September 22, 2020 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Hilo, he served in the U.S. Army's 100th Infantry Battalion of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team and was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal. Sus graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He was an entomologist at the U.S. Department of Agriculture and former owner of the Seaside Restaurant and Aquafarm. He was a member of the 442nd Veterans Club and the Hilo Meishoin Buddhist Temple. Predeceased by his wife, Ellen C. Minaai Nakagawa, Sus is survived by daughters, Cheryl (Wilbert Low) Nakagawa of Hilo and Linda (Mark) Laughlin of Portland OR; sons, Colin (Sharon Beauchan) Nakagawa of Hilo and Kris (Janna) Nakagawa of Honolulu; sister-in-laws, Harumi Nakagawa of Hilo and Ella Fujie of Kahului; and nephews, nieces and cousins. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary and Celebration of Life expected next year.
