She was born on September 13, 1944 and was a graduate of Kaimuki High School. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, she immersed herself in her work and community, actively participating in many trade organizations including the Hawaii Restaurant Association, Hawaii Food Manufacturer's Association, and Hawaii Retailer's Association, and volunteering at every opportunity she got.
Gerda, lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting and texting with friends, eating at her favorite restaurants, spoiling her Pomeranian fur babies, and traveling with her husband and their friends to their favorite destination, Las Vegas. Gerda had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way, and her generous nature, smile, and quick laugh will be missed by all.
Survived by husband Clarence Sakamoto; beloved Pomeranian Peaches; children: Todd Tajiri and Melanie (John) Arcedo; step-daughter Denise (Bryan) Hayashi; hanai daughters: Lori Park and Cindy (David) Ishimoto; grandchildren: Bryce, Jenna (Richard), Cody, Amber (Rex), Jonah, Jetaime; great-grandson Ryder; niece Monette (Dwight); and nephew Bruce (Renee). Preceded in death by son Darin Tajiri. Private services held on March 27, 2021.
