Thomas Tetsuji Takamiya
Thomas Tetsuji Takamiya, 83, moved to his heavenly home on Saturday, March 13, 2021 after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend and Christian. Up until his time on earth was over, his faith in Jesus and hope of heaven gave him much joy and peace. "Tommy" was born on March 16, 1937 in Pu'unene, Maui to Yoichi and Yaeko Takamiya. Their family soon moved to Honolulu where he grew up as your typical "local boy" with his two younger sisters, Elaine and Flora. As an adult he met his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and began his long walk of faith. He would always share with others the amazing grace and love that God had shown him, and how God wanted everyone to receive and experience the same. He was an Air Force veteran, an ambulance driver, and a recreational therapist among other things. He loved to golf, swim, exercise and spend time with family. He always had time to talk about anything. Jesus, family, sports, golf, food, work, travel, life. He was so compassionate, selfless, and generous, and everyone who met Tommy was touched by his big smile, big heart, big sense of humor and genuine friendship.
Tommy is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elaine Noriko Takamiya, his four sons, Trent, Travis, Tristan, and Tracey, their wives, Cari, Dawn, Bonnie, and Yuka, and his eight grandchildren, Erika, Keili, Evan, Keala, Tate, Keisen, Riko, and Taylor. He is also survived by his younger sister, Flora Yamanaka and Nephews Todd and Tedd Yamanaka.
Funeral services will be held for Tommy at Diamond Head Mortuary on April 10, 2021 walk through condolences from 11:30-1:00pm. A burial service will be held at Punchbowl National Cemetery at a later date.
