FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Laura C. Hirono
Laura C. Hirono96, passed away on April 19, 2021. Born in Waipahu, Laura and her family departed for Japan when she was 15. Later, courageously, she brought her 3 children, all born in Japan, to Hawaii for a chance at a better life for us. As a single parent, she showed us perseverence, determination and kindness.

Retiring as an HNA proofreader, mom loved gardening and landscaping. One of our favorite photos is mom watering the yard, the arc of the water spraying her plants. She made beautiful, treasured pressed flower cards with flowers from our yard, often with our beloved cat Hemic by her side. One of her favorite flowers was the cup and saucer plant featured in many of her cards. Mom also won raves for her famous guava jelly made with guavas from our yard. Mom lived life fully, on her own terms.

A special mahalo to all the caregivers who provided care for mom in her last years. Mom will be deeply missed and always remembered by her children, Roy (wife Emi) and Mazie (husband Leighton Oshima) and all those touched by mom's generous life.

Private services were held.
