After graduating from the University of Hawaii he actively served in the US Army and then the army reserve until his retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel. His last army reserve unit was the 322nd Civil Affairs Brigade.
He is survived by his sisters Patrice (Dean) Sumikawa and Dr. Lori Inouye-Yamashita (Dr. James), and four nieces Rachel, Julie, Jamie and Jenna.
He will be interred at Punchbowl National Memorial Cemetery on April 29 at 11:30 a.m.
