FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Hiroko Shimabukuro
Hiroko Shimabukuro102, of Honolulu, died peacefully on March 11, 2021, surrounded by family. She was the 6th of 14 born to Jiro and Maka Wauke, grew up in Kalihi, and graduated from McKinley HS. She married Roy Shimabukuro and was a homemaker until he became blind. Then she worked as a bookkeeper at Shopping Basket until retirement. Hiroko was a great cook and loved having the family over for weekly dinners, well into her 90's. She loved to travel and toured the mainland, Mexico, Canada, China, Japan, Okinawa, and Europe. Las Vegas was her favorite and accompanied Roy every year till his death. Family and friends were there to help celebrate her 100th birthday! Hiroko was a member of Gushikawa Shijin Kai, attended Jikoen Hongwanji, and a former member of Moanalua Seniors Club.

Preceded in death by her husband Roy, son Rick, son-in-law Steve; she is survived by sons Gary (Marian), Mike (Penny), Rory; daughters Arlene Fountain, Norene (Mark) Furutani; sisters Edith Mihalco, Marian Wauke; 10 grand- children; 18 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Private services were held.
