Richard Wayne Grable
Richard Wayne Grable went to his eternal home with Jesus on March 9, 2021. He joined his beloved wife Margaret Emma Morehouse Grable who pre-deceased him in 2017. Richard, also known as Dick, was born on January 15, 1931, in San Francisco, CA, the third son of Guy Alvin Grable and Lilas Hamby Grable. He married Margaret on June 11, 1950, in Healdsburg, CA.
He died in Kailua, Hawaii, at the age of 90. He is survived by his brother, Lloyd (Bredis) Grable and his 4 children: Carolyn (Randy) Bare, Paul (Kammy) Grable, Guy (Mary) Grable and Brad (Pattie) Grable; his 6 grandchildren: Cassie Grable, Dusty (Elyse) Grable, Jaime (Chris) Connelly, Ryan Grable, Alex (Rebecca) Bare, and Tim Bare; his 4 great-grandchildren: Meta Bare, Nolan Bare, Paisley Bay Grable and Rhone Grable; his step granddaughter Michelle (Ken) Burgess and their children Ian Burgess and Maddie Burgess.
Richard graduated from San Francisco State College and became a probation officer working in Sonoma, San Mateo and Solano Counties. In 1961 the family relocated to Suisun City, CA where he became active in leadership in the Fairfield Presbyterian Church. He also received a master's degree from USC in public administration and eventually he became the Chief Probation Officer of Solano County. Before he retired, a building at a boy's ranch in Fouts Springs, CA was named Grable Hall to honor him.
He took early retirement from his probation career in 1989 and in 1996 he and Margaret moved to Kailua, Hawaii on Oahu to live with their son Paul and Paul's family. While in Hawaii, he played tennis with other retirees at Kailua Recreation Center, served as a volunteer for Hospice Hawaii, Pohai Nani and Bible Institute of Hawaii and was a member and leader at Kailua Christian Church and eventually at Trinity Presbyterian Church.
