Born on a farm on old Oili Road, Waialae, Honolulu, to becoming an Olympian in 1948 and again in 1952, Richard lived a full life. Weightlifting took him to all parts of the world, as well as earned him countless honors. Golf became a passion in his later years. Aside from his athletic accomplishments, he was an awesome husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa.Richard passed on February 12, 2021, at the age of 93, with his loving wife Julia having predeceased him. He leaves behind his children Derek Tomita, Jan Lemon and Craig Tomita, with their respective families. Private services.
