FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

KAZUO “KAZU”/”TAK” MATSUURA
Age 88, of Las Vegas, passed away on April 3, 2021. He was born on July 13, 1932, in Hamakuapoko, Maui to Naomatsu and Kiyoko Matsuura, and was a 55 year resident of Las Vegas. Kazuo is survived by his beloved wife, Jeanette; sons, Dean (Laurie), Kit (Jodie), and Kent (Shelly); sisters, Fumiko Sorayama and Sue Moritomo; sister-in-law, Ruth Matsuura; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Kazuo was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Hajime (Lani), Masao (Daisy), Naoto (Sue), Kiyoshi (Mary), Akira, Kiyoto; and brothers-in-law, Yasuo Sorayama and Larry Moritomo.

Kazuo attended Maui High School and served in the U.S. Air Force, spending most of his military years at Haneda Air Force Base in Japan. Following his honorable discharge, Kazuo graduated from the University of Hawaii and married Jeanette. He relocated to Las Vegas in 1966 where he founded Sabaku Judo Dojo and worked for the Sahara, REECO and Hughes Aircraft before his retirement. Kazuo was active in his church and community; he loved singing, going to the casino and gathering around food with family and friends. Kazuo will be remembered as a devoted family man and friend whose warm heart and aloha spirit blessed those who knew him.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021, 101 S. Rancho Drive (Las Vegas), at 10:00 a.m. The family requests no koden.
