Marion Tomiko Uchima Nakasato
On February 11, 2021, Marion Tomiko Uchima Nakasato was welcomed to her eternal home in heaven at the age of 102. She was a woman who loved life. Her passion for living was shared through her eyes that sparkled with love, curiosity and joy. She spent her last days surrounded by her beloved family. From an early age, Marion became the eldest and took on the financial responsibilities of helping with her younger siblings when her father and eldest sister died in 1934. She met her future husband at Kewalo Inn, a restaurant on the corner of Ward Ave and Ala Moana Boulevard across the street from where Fisherman's Wharf stood. After the war, she married her 100th Battalion hero, Isamu Nakasato, and together raised 3 children (2 girls and 1 boy). Her cherished legacy is living a life of gratitude while pouring love and energy into the lives of family, celebrating their successes and milestones, and lending support and wisdom during hard times.
Marion is survived by son, Glenn (Evelyn) Nakasato and daughters Donna Jean Nakamura (husband James predeceased) and Ivie (Dennis) Kumura and 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Juliet Nakasato and many nieces and nephews.
