Matilda Pi'ikea Pomroy Ho, 100, passed away peacefully under hospice care on Sunday, May 2, at her home in Kapahulu, surrounded by her family. She was born in Honolulu, and is survived by son Owen, granddaughter Michele Zablan Weaver (Norman), grandson Brian Zablan (Kelly), sister Claudia Woods, hanai Kenneth "Kiliopu" Nakamura, sons-in-law Michael Zablan and Richard "Rick" Icenogle, six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by husband Frank S. Ho, daughter Frances "Nani" Zablan, sons Frank Jr. and Anthony, mother Helene Mersberg Tam, step-father Lawrence Tam, father Louis Melville Pomroy, half-brother Walter M.K. Pomroy of Anahola, and half-sister Arma K. Pomroy Watanabe. She was a housekeeper at Henry J. Kaiser's Hawaiian Village Hotel from its opening in 1955, until retiring in 1985. She lived a long and full life. She and her husband built their home in Kapahulu, where they raised four beautiful children and hosted legendary parties filled with Hawaiian music and food. After her husband's death, she would continue as matriarch for another 47 years, always with unconditional love for her family, and with kindness, gentleness, and generosity toward all. She was dearly loved, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Services will be held at Diamond Head Mortuary and Memorial Park on Tuesday, May 25. Private service in the chapel at 9:30 a.m. for invited guests only, due to COVID restrictions. Friends are invited to walk through the chapel to pay their respects from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, but may not remain in the chapel, due to COVID restrictions.
Friends are also invited to join the family for her burial at 12:30 p.m. Mask and distancing requirements must be maintained in the chapel and throughout the Memorial Park.
