As a child violin prodigy, he was the youngest person to play for the Honolulu Symphony. He graduated from St. Louis High School in 1964.
Part of the Greatest Generation, he served a few months in WWII, then for 22 years in the Army Security Agency, later expanded to NSA. He was responsible for up to 300 men in the Korea and Vietnam wars, being assigned at ASA locations in Hawaii, Massachusetts, Cambodia, Okinawa, and the Philippines.
He founded Rick Nabarrete Realty, a residential real estate and property management company, with up to 30 licensed agents in 2 offices, based in Honolulu and Waipahu.
He was married to his first wife, Constancia Blacquera, 30 years. He is survived by his current wife of 38 years, Judith Ventura; five children: Richard (Anna Mae & Victoria) Nabarrete, Lance (Zoe) Nabarrete, Glen David (Linda) Nabarrete, Johanna (Tyson) Ventura, and Benjamin (Maricella) Ventura; 12 grandchildren, living in Japan to Florida; siblings Anna, Cirilio, Trining and Cornelio Nabarette.
Judith remembers him as a calm, loving husband, humble, and serving others until the end of his life. He will be interred at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada on June 3, 2021.
