He was born on February 2, 1934 in Kakaako and raised in Kahuku and Honolulu. Charles played varsity basketball for Farrington High School, graduating in 1952. He was a retired plumber, as well as a lifelong Racing Pigeon and judo enthusiast. He enjoyed watching all sports, both on TV and in person.
Charles is survived by his loving wife and world-wide traveling companion, Thelma; sons: Derek (Darlene) of Waipahu, Clyde (Nadine) of Kapolei, Clayton of Honolulu, Mark of Honolulu and daughter Janice (Ron) Shestokes of Torrance, CA; 6 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. He is also survived by brothers Brian, Edwin, and Walter, and sister Ruby Matsumoto.
