Gwen is survived by her two children, Daran and Francine, her six grandchildren, Kaulana, Aza, Lono, Nayelli, Leialoha and Makoa, and her great-grandchild Alia, her older brother and sister Reimann and Marie.
Gwen was a devout Catholic who attended St. Rita's Church in Nanakuli. She had a passion for arts and crafts, karaoke, lei making and entertaining everyone, especially with her kupuna friends. She was the life of every party. Gwen also enjoyed shopping at the dollar stores on the mainland and went crazy on buying gadgets for her friends and family.
The 'ohana will be holding a Celebration of Life at Ke'ehi Lagoon Memorial, Burns Hall, on January 16, 2022 at 5PM. Go to bit.ly/GwenHovinen for more information. Gwen's wishes were that her remains be buried with her husband at Punchbowl as well as with her 'ohana back home on Maui. Punchbowl burial will be on January 18th, 2022 at 2 p.m. and Maui burial will be at a later date to be announced.
