FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Gene N. Yoshinaga
Gene N. Yoshinaga84, of Kaneohe, Hawaii, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Pohai Nani Care Center on August 14, 2021. He was born in Kona, Hawaii, to parents Ernest and Hazel Yoshinaga. A 1954 graduate of James B. Castle High School, he excelled in baseball and track. He then earned a civil engineering degree from the University of Hawaii and an MBA from Auburn University. He served in the USAF and saw combat during the Vietnam war, later retiring as a Lt. Colonel. His second career was as a real estate broker at Coldwell Banker Realty.

Gene avidly followed nearly every athletic competition involving University of Hawaii athletes. His leisure pursuits included enjoying his grandchildren, tennis, golf, SCUBA diving, fishing, and horticulture. He was a source of inspiration for his family, siblings, and friends, as he always found the good in people and, by example, demonstrated all that could be accomplished with a positive attitude.

Survived by wife Sally; sons Michael (Amy) and Jon; grand- daughters Kiana and Kyra Yoshinaga and Kristi Ponce; brothers Melvyn (Jane) and Leslie (Pat); and sister Carol. Private services were held. No koden.
