Isaac K. Kaawa, “Ike”
92, of Makakilo, Hawaii, passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones. Isaac graduated from McKinley HS and in 1951 married the love of his life, Sylvia Sanchez. Isaac was an athlete and made lasting impressions coaching many youths and adults. He worked for PWC, Hawaiian Tel and retired from Verizon. Isaac formed Ho'opili Pa'a and trained the warriors of the Nation of Hawaii, Waimanalo. Isaac proudly served Governor Linda Lingle as her personal security. Ike was awarded the title of Grandmaster to the Degree of Tenth by the Hawaii Martial Arts Society. He was also a Knight of the Royal Order of the Crown of Hawaii. Isaac, played beautiful Kihoalu. Isaac spent his later years with his 'gang' supporting local Hawaiian entertainers, always ending his evenings at a Zippy's. Isaac had a wonderful fulfilled life and will be remembered for his kind and humbled soul. Isaac and Sylvia's children are: Aurora, Mike (Malissa), Maka, Dolly (Renald), Miles (Korean) deceased. He is Tutuman to: 17 grandchildren, 37 great- grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild.
