FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Isamu “Sam” Shibata
Isamu 102 years old of Kaneohe, died at home on September 13, 2021. He was born January 7, 1919 to Tokuichi and Toma Shibata of Honolulu.

He graduated from McKinley High School in 1938. In June 1945, he married Yayoi Uyehara. He worked 35 years in construction as a carpenter for several companies in Hawaii, Guam, and American Samoa. He was a proud member of the Carpenter's Union, Local 745. In 1982, he retired as a superintendent from T. Iida Contracting.

Sam was an avid UH Rainbow sports fan and always looked forward to trips to Las Vegas and playing keno. He was a quiet, generous, caring and thoughtful person. He always stressed the importance of taking care of family and friend. We will miss him but will have him in our hearts.

He was predeceased by wife, Yayoi Shibata, daughter, Ellen Nuibe, grandson, Leighton Nuibe and son-in-law, Wayne Nuibe.

He is survived by his sisters, May Yamamoto, and Alice (Preston) Satsuma and brother, Takeo "Jack" Shibata of Gardena, CA; daughters, Rachel (Cy) Shimamoto, Jill (Joe) Barry, and son, Lance (Nadine) Shibata; grandchildren, Wade (Michele) Nuibe, Dr. Chloe and Leigh Barry, Ferin (Aaron) Smith, Jared and Shay Shibata; great-granddaughter, Breydi Nuibe.

Private service was held.
