74Ruby was born in Hakata City, Fukuoka Prefecture on November 20, 1937, to Otoroku and Sato Motooka. Ruby came to Hawaii as an infant as her father came to work.
Ruby attended and graduated from McKinley High School a member of the class of 1955. In her early adult career, she was cafeteria manager of Linakona Elementary School.
In 1959, she married Richard Miyata, 2 years later they started their family and Ruby became a full time mom. Once her youngest started high school, she reentered the work force at Straub Credit Union and eventually moved to and retired from Hawaii State Federal Credit Union.
Ruby is survived by sister, Margaret Leong; children Dru (Cathy) Miyata, Clayton (Lynelle) Miyata, Dian Nahale, Traci (James) Paige, and Nial (Makoto) Miyata; grand- children Jordan Miyata, McKenna Miyata, McKenzie Miyata, Blaine Nahale, Christopher Paige, Steven Miyata and Nikki Miyata.
Ruby's Celebration of Life will be held graveside at Diamond Head Memorial Park on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 12:30pm
