Highly decorated photo reconnaissance pilot, seven-year Vietnam War POW, renowned speaker and author, loving husband and father, Captain Gerald "Jerry" Coffee, USN (Ret.), died of heart failure on November 13, 2021, in Alexandria, VA, surrounded by family. He was 87. He and wife Susan have called Hawaii home for 40+ years. A loving husband and father, Jerry is survived by children Kimberley Isaak, Steve, David, and Jerry Coffee, Jr.; step-children, Joy Ditto Hill and Kyle Ditto; 10 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. His parents were Georgette and Leonard Coffee of Modesto, CA. He received a BA in Art from UCLA and an MS in Political Science from UC Berkeley. Military decorations include the Silver Star, two awards of the Legion of Merit, the Distinguished Flying Cross, two Bronze Stars, the Air Medal, two Purple Hearts, and the Vietnam Service Medal with 13 stars. Memorial Services were held on Dec. 7, 10:30 AM at the USNA Chapel, Annapolis, MD and on Dec. 12, 2:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu.
