FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Helen Salome Piimanu
Helen Salome PiimanuHelen Salome Park Piimanu was loved, honored, and prized by her children for she truly was the center of our world. Mom had the unique quality of making each of her nine children feel he or she was her "special one". All who knew her came to know her warm heart, candor, and care.

Helen Salome Park Piimanu lived a full and impactful 96 years before departing us on October 30, 2021 at Castle Medical Center in Kailua. Born on July 10, 1925 and raised by adoptive loving parents, Ana Cho Park and Sung Duk Park, Helen is predeceased by siblings Henry Yong Bong Park, Henry Robert Young, Margaret Chung, Susan Marcotte Sutton, Albert, Steven and Floyd Yang, Augustus "Gus" Young, and daughters Constance "Connie" Kaniho and Lillian Parina. She is survived by her sister, Jane Durkee and her seven children, Alexander McNicoll (Elizabeth), Coreen Beck (David), Linda Ahue, Dannyette Kaopua, Mary Anna Sibbett (James), MayLynn Reis Clyde, and Jackie St. John (David), along with twenty-five grandchildren, forty-three great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

A graduate of Maui High School, Helen was an avid reader, particularly of the classics, while in her later years she read everything from church doctrine to recipe books. A voracious learner, she was blessed with a sharp mind and a wit and humor that endeared her to those closest. She worked 25 years as a nurse at St. Francis Hospital where many showed gratitude in unique ways for her tender care. Helen journaled daily using her non-dominant hand for in her words, "It keeps my mind sharper". She tended to her precious gardens and brought Christmas to life creating beautiful life-size artwork in unique Christmas outdoor creations.

Unwavering in her faith and selfless love, we are the beneficiaries of mom's love for all eternities, for she knew without question, as do we, that "families are forever." We love you eternally Mom."
