Raymond Alexander Apana Jr.
Raymond Alexander Apana Jr.Born to Barbara & Raymond Apana, Ray grew up in Pauoa Valley the oldest of 4 brothers and a sister. He attended Pauoa & Cathedral schools, and graduated from St. Louis School & the University of Hawaii. He earned the title of Eagle Scout with troop 215 where he fostered many lifelong friendships. Ray had many interests, taking up activities such as kempo/karate, singing with the Honolulu Choral and even venturing into opera among other genres of music. In his younger years he helped his father with his businesses at White Top Drive In & Kaiaka Café. He proudly served in the US Marines from 1959-1963. An entrepreneur, he owned and operated Apana Realty while simultaneously working at Hawaiian Airlines where he later retired after 42yrs of service. His passions were diverse, from traveling around the world, to watching sports (especially UH), to his many Mercedes station wagons, to his love of buffalos. But most importantly he was passionate about his family, especially his 4 grandchildren. Ray is survived by his wife Masako, son Dustin (Donna) grandchildren, Landon & Logan, son Bronson (Dulce) grandchildren, Anya & River, hanai son, Nagisa (Misa), sister, Raynette, brother's Reginald, Roger, Rodney, and was preceded in passing by brother, Randall. He also leaves behind his beloved cats, Totoro & Poke. His infectious smile, laughter and warm personality will be dearly missed. Private services were held previously. Burial at Punchbowl Cemetery, Friday, 12/17 at 9:30am.
