FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Fukuyoshi “Lucky” Kawazoe
Fukuyoshi On Friday, December 1, 2022, Fukuyoshi "Lucky" Kawazoe passed away in his home in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was 74. Born to Fukuichi and Fujie Kawazoe in Sasebo, Japan, he held many titles throughout his life. Some knew him as a hardworking, innovative businessman and the star of all social events. He was a simple man yet a pioneer of the Japan-to-Hawaii travel industry. He possessed the special gift of living ahead of the curve, which landed him many opportunities in life. While several factors led him to his nickname "Lucky," his good fortune would prove that this was always meant to be. He was highly educated in both Japan and California and founded several successful businesses in Hawaii, including Aloha 7 Travel, and he owned the Waikiki Malia Hotel, through which he enjoyed a 30+ year business relationship with the Outrigger Hospitality Group.

To others, he was a devoted brother and fun-loving friend. He prioritized being out with friends and having a full social life. Lucky was a proud member of Wai'alae Country Club and enjoyed golfing and traveling to Las Vegas. In fact, it wasn't uncommon to find him on the fairway and at the 19th hole five days a week. He was determined to enjoy life, and he never looked back. As a two-time cancer survivor, Lucky was "going for broke" and wouldn't accept anything less out of life.

He was a simple man with a generous heart. Even with the means to indulge in the finer things, Lucky didn't take what he had for granted, and he found joy in sharing with those he knew needed a little extra help. He didn't use his generosity to bring attention to himself but gave in quiet ways simply for the good of others.

His Son, Michael, remembers a supportive and caring father of few words but a big heart. Michael contributes his own success in life and as a person to the love and affection his father had given him through the years. He will be affectionately remembered for his outgoing personality, kindness, and generosity to others.

Services are being held for Lucky on Friday, January 20, 2023, at Nuuanu Mortuary, 3pm visitation and 4pm service. A celebration of life at Wai'alae Country Club will honor his memory and effervescent spirit, following the ceremony from 6pm-9pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society special fund to support the Clarence T.C. Ching Hope Lodge.
