Dr. Alwin Mitsunori Shinkawa D.D.S.
Dr. Alwin Mitsunori Shinkawa, D.D.S. passed away on October 25, 2022 at the age of 88. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii to Dr. Tsuneichi and Florence Shinkawa, he attended and graduated from St. Louis College (High School), State of University of Iowa, and Howard University Dental School in Washington, D.C. After graduation, Alwin served three years with the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at the Johnson Air Base Dental Clinic (Saitama, Japan). His favorite past-time activities were playing tennis at the Ala Moana Courts, riding his Honda motorcycle, and helping with the many projects of the Ala Moana Lions Club. Alwin is survived by his wife of 61 years, Charlotte (Uyeda), two daughters, Vey (Darryl) Okutsu, Deri (Kyle) Arakaki, three grandchildren (Madyson Okutsu, Kymberlie and Katelynn Arakaki) and sister Betsey Shinkawa. The family is grateful and appreciative to all who provided Alwin with comfort and care - special thanks to Richard Barrett, his caregiver and "best" friend. A private celebration of Life was held at Hosoi Garden Mortuary, followed by Inurnment at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl). Arrangements Provided By:
