Corky always wanted to be a cowboy and that is exactly what he was. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree at California State Polytechnic College. He was involved in all aspects of ranching, beginning at the slaughterhouse in Ewa as a young 10-year-old boy to eventually becoming VP of Livestock Management at Parker Ranch.
Well-known for his expertise in the Hawaii cattle industry, Corky has been a board member, a charter member, President, committee chair and member of numerous local and national organizations in the cattle and agriculture industries. His most valued award was the title "Cattleman of the Year", given by his peers in 2006. Corky was inducted into the Paniolo Hall of Fame in 2007. He was happiest when riding his horses and checking cattle, kanikapila with friends, surfing, playing in the makule softball league and, in his last few months, watching old western movies on TV.
He is survived by his children: Mark Bryan, Debby Chow, Michael Bryan, Tia Bryan, Kenny Shamel, Jill Beatty, Tyler Brawner and Wilds Brawner; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and sisters: Kathleen Racki, Mary Haas and Christiane Lucas.
