PEARL RICHARDSON NISHIMURA
PEARL RICHARDSON NISHIMURAPearl Richardson Nishimura, of Kailua, passed away on December 16, 2022, five days after turning 100. She was the last direct descendant of Wilfred and Amy Richardson, and now joins siblings Amy Richardson Kaho`iwai, Grace Richardson Wong, William Shaw Richardson, Arlon Wung Richardson, and Robert Kelelani Richardson, all proud graduates of Roosevelt High School. Pearl graduated in 1939, and went on to graduate from the University of Hawai`i in Business.

Pearl and husband James "Jimmy" Nishimura got married in Des Moines, Iowa, as Jimmy finished up at Drake University. Their three children, Linda, Holly, and Jay were born there; in 1963, they relocated back home and settled in Kailua. Jimmy spent his career in accounting; Pearl worked mostly in local government, first as secretary for brother Bill when he was Lt. Governor, then as clerical support in the State Legislature.

Pearl is pre-deceased by husband Jimmy, daughter Holly Nishimura and grandson Baby Nohea Tubbs.She is survived by daughter Linda Nishimura (Kapena Kim), son Jay Nishimura (Stacy Naipo); grandchildren Maika`i Tubbs, Liko Tubbs (Katie Aimone), Emily Urbaniak, Nohea Polendey, Damon Flood, Annabella Naipo, Joshua Kim (Lauren) and Hoku Kim (Brett Link); nine great grandchildren; sister-in-law Helen Richardson.

A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, January 25th
at Hawaiian Memorial Park: visitation 9am; memorial service 10am.
