Of Kailua, Oahu/Lawai, Kauai passed away on January 5, 2023. Nancy was born in Portland, Oregon to Winfred and Ruth Knight on October 18, 1926. She went to school at Grant High School in Portland. She graduated from University of Oregon with a Major in English Class of 1948; a member of Sorority Phi Beta Phi. She married Thomas A. Roberts Jr on August 27, 1948, in Portland, Oregon. In 1960 Tom and Nancy moved to Kailua, Oahu with their 3 sons. Nancy resided in Kailua for 53 years before moving to Kauai in 2014 and residing in Lawai. Most of her working career was spent at Oceanic Institute (Mokapu'u, Oahu) as Executive Secretary from 1971 to 1996. She was a volunteer at Kailua Library, Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden in Kaneohe, and was an avid runner for many years. While on Kauai she volunteered at the National Tropical Botanical Garden-South Shore Gardens-Oshibana Group.
At her Kailua home, Nancy hosted gymnasts from Maui Gymnastics (grand-daughter Malia) as well as Kauai volleyball players from Po'okela Volleyball Club and Kauai High Girls Volleyball (grand- daughter Heather). She was one of the founders of Po'okela Volleyball Club on Kauai.
Nancy A. Roberts is preceded in death by (Husband-Thomas A. Roberts, Jr. daughter-in-law Molly (Thomas) Roberts and grandson Matthew (Tiffany) Roberts.
Nancy A. Roberts is survived by sons, Thomas A. Roberts III, David K. Roberts and Richard L. (Peggy) Roberts, grandchildren: Malia (Todd) Nordman, Lisa (Rey) Andrade, Tami (Jerry) Yamamoto, Heather (Nathan) Dewhirst and Colton Roberts; 11 great-grand- children and 5 great-great grandchildren and Terrie Roberts.
Memorials may be given to Friends of Kailua Library, Ho'omaluhia and National Tropical Botanical Garden.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all the caregivers that so lovingly cared for Nancy the last 5 years of her life.
Services will be held at the National Cemetery of the Pacific-Punchbowl where Nancy will be laid to rest with
her husband Tom Roberts.
