FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Peter Bacolod Thomas Jr.
Peter Bacolod Thomas Jr.Born at the Waimanalo Sugar Plantation on Oahu, Territory of Hawaii to Josephine Calizar Thomas and Peter Thomas Sr. He was the second oldest child and had 4 siblings. The family lived in Hana, Maui, Kalihi,and Kaimuki. Dad graduated 1944 from St Louis College High School where he was a member of the 21 Club (21 longtime dear school friends) and a cheerleader. 1942 to 1946 St. Louis shared classrooms with McKinley High School since St. Louis was converted into a hospital during the war. At a dance at McKinley he met his wife Irene Abalos and they were married October 28th 1945. Dad joined the Army in 1945 and served 20 years of active service in the Pacific WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War, he helped to establish the Hawaii Job Corp, under the Office of Equal Opportunity, a federal program, and served as initial Deputy Director from 1966 to 1967 retiring as a Major. Served in Munitions Logistics at Ft. Shafter 1968 to 1988 as a US Army civilian. He received the US Army Commendation medal with Oak Leaf Cluster 1965, World War II Victory Medal, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Dept. of Army Meritorious Civilian Service Medal. Mom followed Dad to many locations in France, Maryland, Illinois and Kentucky and finally to their last move back home to Hawaii. In retirement he loved to play golf and belonged to Ele Makule, keeping handicaps for the group for many years. He even got to play golf with Jim Colbert. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Irene (Sept.2020), infant daughter Joy, brother Rudy (Rowena) sisters, Grace Castor, Mildred (Jacob) Lau, and Gloria (Ray) Dumolt. He is survived by his son Peter III (Tyris), many nieces and nephews. Thank you for the friendships he made at the Plaza at Moanalualani. A special thank you to Marlena Kidani, Jason, Kim and Bryson Lutao, these past years for their care and help. Families are forever.

A joint Celebration of Life for Mom and Dad will be held at
Diamond Head Mortuary. February 4th 2023. Service at 10:30 a.m. Luncheon to follow.
