Roy was born on July 21, 1937, to George and Grace Yoshikawa, in Honolulu, Hawaii.
After graduating from Kaimuki High School in 1955, he joined the United States Coast Guard and served for more than 26 years. In his retirement, he continued service for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for over 19 years.
Roy's hobbies included bowling, western movies, the San Francisco Giants and 49ers, and his beloved golf. He was a course marshall for Foxtail Golf Course for many years. He also loved family gatherings, as his family meant the world to him.
Roy was predeceased by his parents George and Grace Yoshikawa, and his sister Charlotte Gier. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Lynnette, brother Fred Yoshikawa (Young), brother- in-law Watson Gier, daughters Robin Schefer (Tim), Julie McIntyre (Joe), son Aaron Yoshikawa (Brenda dec.), grandchildren Shelby, Tim (Brian), Mackenzie, Kendall, Kaylee and great-grandson Brody. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Roy's Celebration of Life was held at Pleasant Hills Memorial Park in Sebastopol, CA, on Tuesday, January 17, 2023.
