FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

DEAN MASAMI HIRAMOTO
DEAN MASAMI HIRAMOTO Age 70, resided in Waipahu, was a proud veteran of the Hawaii Army National Guard (HIARNG), passed away on Dec. 23, 2022, at the Queen's Med Ctr - West Oahu ER. He was born on Oct. 19, 1952 in Honolulu, HI.
MSG Hiramoto retired on Jun 21, 2012, as a mess sergeant for 41 years in the HIARNG. He served the last 21 years on active duty as a maintenance & supply NCO with the Counterdrug Program.
It has been written that his love for the HIARNG & esprit de corps among soldiers who experienced his friendship that left a lasting impression on all who served with him. His world famous "Kim Chee Soup" was a delicacy members of the HIARNG missed as they enjoyed the warming beverage at every drill.
During his later years, he enjoyed renting a cabin at the Kaneohe Marine Base with some of his friends who enjoy fishing twice a year during the Memorial Day & Labor Day week. He was known for his meticulous lists of supplies to bring, foods to cook, & fishing equipment including different types of bait he prepared in advance. He was also known for his boiled peanuts by his friends & neighbors.
He is survived by his wife, Liane Hiramoto, daughter, Deanne Hiramoto and Squirt, our tortoise who guards our home & family.

A memorial service honoring MSG Hiramoto will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, at the Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary. Visitation will be at 4:30-5:30 pm, services will be at 5:30-6:30 pm, followed by the military funeral honors. Scattering of his ashes will be held at a later date. Family requests casual/aloha attire & no flowers.
