Thomas Alan Work Thomas Alan Work, 76 of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away peacefully Christmas morning after a short and valiant battle with AML. He is survived by his wife Joyce and his children: Todd, Keani and Samanta, their spouses Mary Frances, Milia, and Noah as well his grandchildren: Zahria, Mackie, Emmric, Owen, Olivia and Jonesy in addition to his two nephews David Bahne and Vincent Work all of whom loved him dearly.
Tom grew up in Southern California, where he attended Crespie Carmelite High School. An All-State standout baseball outfielder who led his Crespie Critters to a CIF Division title and was inducted into the Crespie Athletic Hall of Fame. Tom went on to Graduate from UCLA with an English Degree and studied business at USC before setting off for his new life in Hawaii. Tasked with restructuring a failing business Tom successfully over the next 30 + years dominated the automotive parts distribution sector as President and Owner of Charles W. Carter Company in Honolulu, Hawaii, before retirement to pursue his love of golf and travel. Tom was an avid golfer, skier, voracious reader and an accomplished chef who enjoyed hosting friends and family with his cooking. He was intelligent and funny. He enjoyed laughter and friendship and was never in short supply of either. He could dance and loved music. Tom was bigger than any room he entered and he never left one without making a new friend. He enjoyed spending time with family and his many friends.
