Yoshito Hironaka 91, passed away peacefully on Christmas Day, December 25, 2022 and joined his beloved wife Gladys and daughter Faye in Heaven. He was born and raised in Mt. View/Hilo, attended the University of Hawaii and graduated with a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering. After 2 years in the U.S Air Force, he was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant. Yoshito began his 35-year career at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, moving up the ranks to become GM-15 assistant head of Planning Department, U.S. Naval Engineering Command Pacific Division. He traveled extensively throughout Asia-Pacific and was honored in Washington D.C. with a Superior Civilian Service Award from U.S. Department of Navy. Survived by daughters Karen Moon (Orson), Gwen Ing (Strather), and Cathy Higa; son Ray (Patty) Hironaka; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, February 27, 2023, Visitation at 10:00am followed by Service at 11:00am at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. No flowers. Face mask are required.
