Yoshito Hironaka91, passed away peacefully on Christmas Day, December 25, 2022 and joined his beloved wife Gladys and daughter Faye in Heaven. He was born and raised in Mt. View/Hilo, attended the University of Hawaii and graduated with a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering. After 2 years in the U.S Air Force, he was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant. Yoshito began his 35-year career at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, moving up the ranks to become GM-15 assistant head of Planning Department, U.S. Naval Engineering Command Pacific Division. He traveled extensively throughout Asia-Pacific and was honored in Washington D.C. with a Superior Civilian Service Award from U.S. Department of Navy. Survived by daughters Karen Moon (Orson), Gwen Ing (Strather), and Cathy Higa; son Ray (Patty) Hironaka; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, February 27, 2023, Visitation at 10:00am followed by Service at 11:00am at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. No flowers. Face mask are required.
