Henry Kanuha Tancayo Sr.
77, passed away on Molokai, June 28, 2018. He was born on October 19, 1940 to the late Michael Tancayo Sr. and Harriet Poaha Tancayo. He trained at the Hawaii Army National Guard Nike Hercules Guided Missile Defense System in Texas and was stationed at Bellows Air Force Base retiring as a sergeant after 10 years of service. Henry returned to Molokai and was employed by the Maui County Fire Department retiring as a Battalion Chief after 25 years of service. Henry served on the Molokai Planning Commission, Hawaiian Homes Commission, Kalaupapa National Park Advisory Commission and was a Molokai JCC President & Director. He helped develop the Molokai Livestock Co-Op, Molokai Community Pasture and Molokai Homestead Livestock Association. He headed the Jerry Lewis Telethon on Molokai for many years. He was a Hospice volunteer and member of the Molokai Catholic Community. Henry is survived by wife, Patricia (Angelias); children Junette (Bart) Kitterman, Henry Jr. (Tracie), Travis (Roxann), and Patti (Rustam) Barbee; brothers Kegal (Kathy), Erman (Juliana), James (Hazel Jo), Lance (Annette), Nathan; sisters Pearl Haunani (Dennis) Kamakana and Helene (Bernard) Juario; 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by brothers, Michael Jr. and Allen. Services at St. Damien Church on July 21, 8:30-11:00 am with Mass at 11:00 am. Interment at Homelani Cemetery.
