JOHN JOSEPH HAUSLER, JR.
June 8, 1944 - March 19, 2019 John J. Hausler, Jr. of Pearl City passed away peacefully on March 19, 2019 in Honolulu. He was 74. Born in Teaneck, NJ, John was a career US Army soldier, serving in Vietnam, Europe, the Mainland and Hawaii, and retiring in 1983 - with 20 plus years of service as a Sergeant First Class Dining Facility Manager with the 25th Infantry Wolfhounds. A single dad with four children, in May 1981, at a "Parents Without Partners" gathering, John met and married the love of his life, Jennifer "Jenny" Ikeda Shimada, a widow with two children of her own. Together, now with six children under the age of 10, John and Jenny created a "Brady Bunch" - a home filled with challenges to be sure, but also filled with love and laughter. He was so proud of each of them, all their accomplishments and loved them all so much. John and Jenny were co-owners of JJ's Tavern in Waipahu and later JJ's Drain Service. Over the years, John also held positions at Wayne's Carpet, Roto Rooter, Waipahu High School and the O`ahu Airports Division. John was a humble, funny, kind and special man of many interests and talents. He loved cards, darts, bowling, surfing the internet, playing pranks, watching TV and, of course, spending time with his wife, family, and his dog Coco. In addition to his beloved wife of 37 years, is survived by sons John J. III (Grace Yamada) and Robert Hausler; Ryan and Michael Shimada; daughters Kelly (Michael) Van Vliet and Nichole McSpedon; grandchildren Mason, Matthew, Peyton, Hannah, Charlie and Ella; sister Carol (Tom) Page, brother and Richard (Joann) Hausler; brothers-and sisters-in-law Albert (Geneva) Ikeda, Roger (Shereen) Ikeda, and Diane Fujio; special cousins Janet Gerber and Debra Ikeda, and aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. Services will be held Friday, April 26, 2019, at Hosoi Garden Mortuary, 30 N. Kukui, Honolulu, HI 96817 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. Interment services will be held at the National Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl later that day. Casual attire.
