FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Naoto Matsuura
Born on February 4, 1919, in Hamakuapoko, Maui, Naoto Matsuura peacefully passed on September 17, 2020. To provide for his wife Sumiko and sons Jerel and Glenn, he worked diligently at the Board of Water Supply as a storekeeper for many years.

Prior to working at the Board of Water Supply, he served in the U.S. Army with Company C 100th Battalion 442nd Infantry. He saw action in three war arenas: Central Pacific Campaign, Naples Foggia Campaign, and Rome Arno Campaign. For his service, he was awarded the Bronze Medal along with other numerous decorations and citations.

Predeceased by his wife Sumiko and brothers Hajime, Masao, Kiyoshi, Akira and Kiyoto, Naoto is survived by his sons Jerel and Glenn; brother Kazuo in Las Vegas; and sisters Fumiko Soroyama in California and Sueko Moritomo in Honolulu; grand-daughter Candice (Don) Matsuura-Manuel; grandsons Aaron (Song I) Matsuura and Jason Matsuura; great-grand- daughters Caitlyn, Chyanne, and Chaelee Matsuura-Manuel and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Naoto was interred in Punchbowl National Cemetery. A one-year anniversary celebration of life will be held on September 17, 2021 at the Hosoi Mortuary, health conditions permitting.
