Catherine King Thoene passed away on February 20, 2021 in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Born on May 27, 1930 in Honolulu to Claude and Catherine King, Catherine grew up playing in the waters off Paiko Drive, was a student at Sacred Hearts Academy, and graduated from Punahou in 1948. She attended the University of Hawaii, where she met Carl L. Thoene. Together they raised four children, Patricia, Peter, Claudia, and Melinda, in Kailua. Catherine was an active volunteer, serving the Assistance League of Honolulu and the Daughters of Hawai'i where she served as Regent in 1985-86. Carl and Catherine retired on the Big Island in Pu'uanahulu where they hosted many gatherings with family and friends making cherished memories talking story over pupu and drinks.A much loved Grandma to her 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild, Catherine was preceded in death by her husband Carl in 2007.
